Brandon Police Service Media Release for the Past 24 Hours.

Assault Police Officer:

At approximately 3:35 p.m., Police stopped a vehicle on 2nd Street and the male driver of the vehicle was found to be suspended from driving. The man exited his vehicle and became aggressive towards the Officer but eventually returned to his car. When the Officer approached the vehicle to retrieve more information, the man reached through the open window, grabbed the Officer by the arm and tried to pull the Officer into the vehicle. Other Police members attended and were able to subdue the suspect. The 83-year-old man from Brandon was arrested for Assault Police Officer and issued a ticket for Driving While Disqualified. He was released and scheduled to appear in Court in May.

Stolen Vehicle:

At approximately 5:30 a.m., a male from the 100 Block of 10th Street East contacted Police advising that his 2011 GMC Sierra Crew Cab truck was stolen sometime between 7:00 p.m. and 5:20 a.m. The vehicle is black in color with Manitoba License plate GBG 922. Police have not been able to identify suspects and the investigation continues.

Obstruct Peace Officer:

At approximately 7:30 p.m., Officers attended to a downtown drinking establishment after receiving a report of a male causing problems and refusing to leave. The male was combative and aggressive towards Police in efforts to resist being removed. The 50-year-old man from Winnipeg was arrested for Obstruct Peace Officer and Being Disorderly in a Licensed Premises under the LGCA. He was lodged at the Brandon Correctional Center to be released when sober with a Court date in May.  

Domestic Assault:

On Tuesday evening, Police responded to a residence on Tracey Street for a disturbance. Investigation revealed that a husband and wife were involved in a conflict when the intoxicated female assaulted her husband. The 34-year-old female was arrested for Domestic Assault and lodged at the Brandon Correctional Center to be released when sober with a Court date in May. The male victim did not sustain any physical injuries because of the assault.

Break and Enter:

On Tuesday afternoon, the building manager of an apartment building in the 500 Block of 11th Street reported that sometime between March 28th and April 3rd someone broke into the building and stole the security cameras and hard drive. Police investigation continues.

Other Arrests:

At approximately 12:10 p.m., Police received a report of an intoxicated male falling down in the area of the 600 Block of Dennis Street. The man was located and found to be on a Recognizance with a condition to abstain from the consumption of alcohol. The 50-year-old man from Brandon was arrested and lodged at the Correctional Center to appear in Court on Wednesday.

At approximately 4:10 p.m., Police stopped a vehicle in the 600 Block of 8th Street. The male driver of the vehicle was found to be on a Recognizance with a condition to have no contact or communication with the female passenger. The 34-year-old male was arrested and lodged at the Correctional Center to appear in Court on Wednesday.

Two individuals were arrested for Breach of the Peace.

One individual was detained under the Intoxicated Person Detention Act.
