Brandon Police Service Media Release for the Past 24 Hours.

Impaired Driving:

At approximately 10:20 p.m., a witness reported following an erratic driver into the parking lot of a hotel on Victoria Avenue. The witness further reported that the vehicle was driven by a female and had been driving in the wrong lane of traffic and swerving. Officers attended and located the vehicle parked with a female behind the wheel. The female driver displayed signs of impairment and was transported to the Police Service where breath samples obtained exceeded the legal limit. The 42-year-old female from Winnipeg was arrested for Impaired Driving and Drive Over 80 mg%. She was released with a Court date later this month.  

Arrest Warrant Executed:

At approximately 12:40 a.m., Police attended a disturbance at a residence on Cornell Bay. The male causing the disturbance was located and found to have an outstanding Warrant of Arrest for Assault with a Weapon, Breach of Court Order, Fail to Appear for Finger Prints and Fail to Attend Court. The 20-year-old man was arrested and lodged at the Brandon correctional Center to appear in Court on Friday.

On Thursday morning, Police arrested a 32-year-old female after becoming aware of an outstanding Warrant of Arrest for fail to Appear For Finger Prints. The female was released to appear in Court in April.

On Thursday afternoon, a 17-year-old male youth turned himself into Police for having a Warrant of Arrest for Breach of Probation. The youth was arrested and lodged at the Correctional Center to appear in Court on Friday.

At approximately 2:50 p.m., Police stopped a vehicle in the 100 Block of McTavish Avenue. A female passenger in the vehicle was known to have a Warrant of Arrest for Theft Under $5000 and Breach of Probation. The 37-year-old female from Virden MB was arrested and lodged at the Correctional Center to appear in Court on Friday.  

Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Cocaine, Possession of Proceeds of Crime:

At approximately 10:40 p.m., members of the Crime Support Unit executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act Search Warrant at a condominium in the 400 Block of 9th Street. Three individuals were located inside, including the male resident and a female. The third person located was released without charge. A search of the residence and a vehicle operated by the male suspect recovered $22,000 in Cash, 240 grams of Cocaine and drug trafficking related paraphernalia.  A search of the purse belonging to the female suspect recovered $700 Cash and four 1-gram bags of Cocaine. The street value of the recovered Cocaine is $24,000. The 43-year-old man and 28-year-old female were arrested for Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking and Possession of Proceeds of Crime. The male suspect was lodged at the Brandon Correctional Center and is scheduled to appear in Court on Friday. The female was released and is scheduled to appear in Court in May.

 Assault:

At approximately 1:20 a.m., police responded to a disturbance at a residence in the 1300 Block of 8th Street. Investigation revealed that an intoxicated female was acting out of control and punched a female youth in the face causing the victim to receive a bloody nose. The 32-year-old female was arrested for Assault and lodged at the Correctional Center to be released when sober with a Court date in May. The victim did not require medical attention for the injury sustained.

Other Arrests:

Two individuals were arrested for Breach of the Peace and two individuals were detained under the Intoxicated Person Detention Act.
