Brandon Police Service Media Release for the Past 24 Hours.

Domestic Assault:

At approximately 8:40 p.m., Police responded to a disturbance at an apartment on 15th Street. A male and female involved in a domestic relationship were located. Investigation revealed that each party assaulted the other. The female reported being punched in the mouth by the male and the male reported being punched twice in the eye by the female. The 28-year-old female and 25-year-old male were both arrested for Domestic Assault and released to attend Court in April. Neither party received any physical injuries because of the assaults.  

Robbery:

At approximately 10:40 p.m., a male attended the Police Service and reported that he was just beaten up and robbed of his prescription medication at a residence in the 400 Block of 2nd Street. Officers attended the residence and located the male suspect hiding underneath a bed. The intoxicated suspect was found to be on a Recognizance with conditions to observe a curfew and abstain from the consumption alcohol. The 19-year-old man from Brandon was arrested for Robbery and Breach of Recognizance X 2. He was lodged at the Brandon Correctional Center and is scheduled to appear in Court on Wednesday. The victim did not receive any physical injuries because of this incident.

  

Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Marihuana, Breach of Recognizance X3:

At approximately 12:15 p.m., Police attended a hotel in the 1900 Block of Queens Avenue after receiving information that a female youth who had run away from her foster home was in one of the rooms. The youth was safely located and in the company of an adult male. The male was found to be on a Recognizance with conditions to not possess any weapons, not to consume alcohol, not to possess any drugs and to consent to a search of his person and residence. A search of the hotel room recovered a small bag containing 1 gram of methamphetamine, a bag containing 14 grams of marihuana and an ASP baton. The 30-year-old man from Brandon was arrested for Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Marihuana and Breach of Recognizance X3. The man was lodged at the Brandon Correctional Center and is scheduled to appear in Court on Wednesday.  

  

Obstruct Justice, Extortion:

As part of a continued investigation into a Sexually Exploited Youth that resulted in an adult male arrested for Uttering Threats and Obtaining Sexual Services from a Person Under 18 years of age on February 27th 2018. Police arrested the female youth on Tuesday afternoon after learning that the youth sent a message to the male suspect stating that she would make the charges go away in exchange for a cash payment. The 17-year-old female youth was arrested for Obstruct Justice and Extortion. She was released to attend Court in April.  

 

Mischief to Property:

On Tuesday afternoon, an employee from a youth care foster home reported that a female client trashed her room and broke two windows. The suspect then turned on a hose in the kitchen causing water damage and discharged a fire extinguisher. Officers located the youth who was found to be intoxicated and arrested her for Mischief to Property. The 15-year-old female was lodged at the Correctional Center to be released when sober to attend Court in April.

 

Assault:

On Tuesday afternoon, a female resident of a youth group home reported being assaulted and threatened by another resident of the home. Investigation revealed that the female suspect approached the victim in the residence, threatened her and then spit in her face. The 15-year-old female youth was arrested for Assault and Uttering Threats. She was released to attend Court in April.

 

Other Arrests:

Two individuals were arrested for Breach of the Peace and two individuals were detained under the Intoxicated Person Detention Act.
