Brandon Police Service Media Release for the Past 24 Hours.

Domestic Assault:

At approximately 2:15 p.m., Police attended a disturbance at an apartment in the 600 Block of Douglas Street. A male and female were located and investigation revealed that the two had bitten each other causing teeth impressions on the other person. The male and female are involved in a domestic relationship. The 24-year-old female and 23-year-old male were both arrested for Domestic Assault and released to attend Court later this month. Neither party required medical attention for the injuries.  

Possession of a Prohibited Weapon:

At approximately 6:45 p.m., Police stopped an intoxicated male walking in the 100 Block of 10th Street. Officers located a can of bear mace in the jacket pocket of the man. The 21-year-old man from Brandon was arrested for Possession of a Prohibited Weapon and lodged at the Brandon Correctional Center to be released when sober with a Court date in April.

Residential Break and Enter:

At 12:35 a.m., a resident of an apartment in the 600 Block of Lorne Avenue reported returning home to find the apartment broken into and two 46-inch televisions stolen. It is believed that entry was gained through the front door. The Break and Enter occurred sometime after 4:30 p.m. There are no suspects or witnesses at this time and Police continue to investigate.

Arrest Warrants Executed:

On Wednesday night, Police arrested a 24-year-old man for having an outstanding Warrant of Arrest for Possession of a Scheduled Substance. The male was lodged at the Brandon Correctional Center and is scheduled to appear in Court on Thursday.

On Wednesday afternoon, Police arrested a 53-year-old man incarcerated at the Brandon Correctional Center on a Winnipeg Police Service Warrant of Arrest for Aggravated Assault, Assault Causing Bodily Harm and Assault with a Weapon. The man is scheduled to appear in Court on Thursday.

At approximately 10:30 a.m., Police attended a disturbance at an apartment in the 1400 Block of Pacific Avenue. A 42-year-old man was located and found to have an outstanding Warrant of Arrest for Theft Under $5000. The man was arrested and released to attend Court in April.

Breach of Court Orders:

At approximately 9:30 a.m., Police responded to a report of a male in the lane at the rear of a residence in the 300 Block of 16th Street brandishing a handgun. Officers attended and the male suspect fled on foot. A Police K-9 Unit conducted a track locating the male at 17th Street and Lorne Avenue. The suspect was taken into custody without further incident and a plastic cap gun was located at the scene of the arrest. The 17-year-old male youth was found to be on a Probation Order with an absolute curfew. He was arrested for Breach of Probation and released to attend Court in April.

A 45-year-old female was arrested during a traffic stop of a taxicab on Wednesday nigh for Breach of Undertaking X2. The female passenger was intoxicated and in the company of a male passenger contrary to conditions of the order. She was lodged at the Brandon Correctional Center and is scheduled to appear in Court on Thursday.

At approximately 2: 40 a.m., Police stopped a male walking in the 100 Block of McDiarmid Drive. The male was found to be in Breach of a Curfew condition of an Undertaking. The 30-year-old man was arrested for Breach of Undertaking and was lodged at the Brandon Correctional Center to appear in Court on Thursday.

Stabbing:

On Wednesday morning, Police received a report that a female was at hospital with a stab wound. Officers attended and learned that the female was in stable condition with a non-life threatening wound to her upper torso. The female remains in hospital and Police continue to investigate to determine the circumstances of this incident.

Other Arrests:

One individual was arrested for Breach of the Peace and lodged at the Brandon Correctional Center for release when sober.
