Brandon Police Service Media Release for the Past 24 Hours.

Breach of Court Order:

 On Wednesday, Police received notification that a male inmate from the Brandon Correctional Center contacted a female with whom he is bound to have no contact or communication with. The 36-year-old man was arrested for Breach of Court Order and is scheduled to appear in Court on Thursday.

 

Man arrested after pursuit for Impaired Driving, Theft of Vehicle and Warrants of Arrest:

 At approximately 1:20 a.m., Police received a report of a stolen vehicle from the 700 block of 7th Street. The vehicle was parked on the street and left running to warm up. At approximately 1:50 a.m., Officers located the vehicle and attempted a traffic stop however, the vehicle refused to pull over and a pursuit began. The pursuit travelled several blocks and reached a top speed of 65km/h. The suspect finally stopped in the 400 Block of 13th Street after ramming a Police vehicle. The male suspect attempted to flee on foot but was apprehended after a failed attempt to scale a fence.  The suspect showed signs of impairment and was transported to the Police Service where breath samples obtained were in excess of the legal limit. The 22-year-old Brandon man was arrested for Impaired Driving, Drive Over 80 mg%, Theft of Motor Vehicle, Flight From Police, Resist Arrest and Assault Police Officer. The male was also found to have three outstanding Warrants of Arrest for Mischief to Property, Assault and Breach of Probation. The male sustained a minor injury during his attempt to run from Police. He was treated at the hospital and when cleared medically, lodged at the Brandon Correctional Center and is scheduled to appear in Court on Thursday. No Officers were injured during this incident.

 

Possession of Stolen Property, Trafficking Meth, Possess Weapon Dangerous Purpose, Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm: 

In early January 2018, Police engaged in an investigation involving drugs and stolen property from a residence in the east end of Brandon. On Wednesday at approximately 5:10 p.m., Police conducted a traffic stop as part of this investigation. The 41-year-old male driver of the vehicle was taken into Police custody and a search of the vehicle recovered a quantity of methamphetamine. At approximately 5:30 p.m., Police conducted another vehicle stop and a 52-year-old male and 21-year-old female were taken into Police custody. A search of this vehicle recovered a shotgun and ammunition. At approximately 7:50 p.m., Officers executed a Search Warrant at a residence on Delta Bay with further drugs and items of stolen property recovered. The 41-year-old Brandon man has been arrested for Possession of Methamphetamine for the Purpose of Trafficking and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime.  He was released and is scheduled to appear in Court in April. The 52-year-old man from Brandon has been arrested for Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose, Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm and Possession of Methamphetamine for the Purpose of Trafficking. He was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in Court in April. The 21-year-old female from Brandon was arrested for Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose and Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm. She was released and is scheduled to appear in Court in March. The exact quantities of drugs seized, and details surrounding the stolen property are not yet known and Police investigation continues.
