Brandon Police Service Media Release for the Past 24 Hours.

Impaired Driving:

At approximately 4:50 a.m., Police received a report of a possible impaired driver. Police located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop in the 700 Block of 20th Street. The driver was placed on an approved screening device, which resulted in a fail, and subsequent breath samples obtained were in excess of the legal limit. The 27-year-old man from Brandon was arrested for Impaired Driving and Drive Over 80 mg%. He was lodged at the Brandon Correctional Center to be released when sober to attend Court later this month.

 

Female Arrested for Possession of Methamphetamine for Purpose of Trafficking:

At approximately 11:30 a.m., Police received information that a female was in the downtown area of the city trying to sell methamphetamine. Officers located the female who had 3.8 grams of Methamphetamine in her possession as well as $370 cash. The 39-year-old female from Brandon was arrested for Possession of Methamphetamine for the Purpose Trafficking and Possession of Proceeds of Crime. She was released to attend Court in March.  

 

Arrest warrants Executed:

On Tuesday afternoon, Police observed a male walking in the 800 Block of Princess Avenue and were aware that the male had an outstanding Warrant of Arrest for Theft Under $5000. The 33-year-old man from Brandon was arrested and released to attend Court in March.

A 42-year-old man from Brandon turned himself into Police on Tuesday evening for having an outstanding Unendorsed Warrant of Arrest for Breach of Probation. The man was arrested and lodged at the Correctional Center to appear in Court on Wednesday.

At approximately 8:30 p.m., an off duty BPS member observed a male in the area of the Corral Center and were aware that the man had an outstanding Unendorsed Warrant of Arrest for Assault and Fail to comply with a Court Order. Officers attended and located the 48-year-old man from Lenore Manitoba. He was arrested and lodged at the Correctional Center to appear in Court on Wednesday.

 

Two Suspects Arrested for Fraud and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime:

On Tuesday evening, Police received a report from an employee of a business in the 3000 Block of Victoria Avenue that a credit card fraud was occurring in the store. Officers attended and investigation revealed that a female suspect used a credit card on Monday to purchase merchandise valued at $1386. The suspect attempted to purchase more items on Tuesday and the credit card used was determined to be stolen. A 26-year-old female from Brandon was arrested for Fraud Under $5000 X2 and also had an outstanding Warrant of Arrest for Breach of Recognizance. She was lodged at the Correctional Center and is scheduled to appear in Court on Wednesday. The investigation also found that a 26-year-old man from Brandon was involved in the incident and took possession of the items fraudulently purchased. The man was arrested for Possession of Property Obtained By Crime and released to attend Court in February.

 

Stolen Vehicle Recovered:

On Tuesday afternoon, Police received a report of a stolen school bus parked in the 700 Block of 16th Street. The bus, reported stolen from Killarney was recovered and Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding this incident.

 

Breach of Court Order:

 A 48-year-old man from Brandon was arrested for Breach of Recognizance after being observed intoxicated outside a downtown drinking establishment. A condition of the Recognizance states the man is to abstain from consuming alcohol. He was lodged at the Correctional Center to be released when sober to attend Court in March.     

 

 Other Arrests:

One individual was detained under the Intoxicated Person Detention Act, to be released when sober.
