Brandon Police Service Media Release for the Past 24 Hours.


Care and Control While Impaired:

At approximately 6:15 a.m. on Thursday morning, Officers observed a vehicle stuck in the snow in the 600 Block of Lorne Avenue. A male was observed behind the wheel, appeared to be passed out and the vehicle was running. The driver was woken, displayed signs of Impairment and transported to the Police Service where breath samples obtained exceeded the legal limit. The 19-year-old man from Brandon was arrested for Care and Control While Impaired and Care and Control Over 80 mg%. He was released to attend Court on January 11th.


Sexual Assault:

A 27-year-old man from Brandon was arrested on Thursday evening after Police received a report that the male sexually assaulted a female vctim on December 23rd 2017. The sexual assault consisted of inappropriate acts by the suspect on the victim, against her will. The suspect and victim are known to each other and the assault occured in a vehicle after the suspect gave the victim a ride. The suspect was released on a Promise to Appear with conditions to attend Court in March.


Breach of Court Orders:

At approximately 1:15 a.m., Police received a call from a female reporting a male outside her door. Officers attended the residence and located a male in the area. The male was found to be the subject of a Recognizance with conditions to not contact the female, stay away from her residence and abstain from the consumption of alcohol. The 39-year-old man from Brandon was arrested for Breach of Recognizance X3 and lodged at the Brandon Correctional Center to appear in Court on Friday.

At approximately 2:55 a.m., Police stopped a male in the 200 Block of 2nd Street. The male identified himself to Police as another person however his identity was known to another Officer who arrived on scene. The intoxicated male was found to be on a Recognizance with conditions to observe a curfew and reside at an address different from the one he provided to Police. The 44-year-old man from Brandon was arrested for Breach of Recognizance x2 and held in custody to appear in Court on Friday.  

A 24-year-old male inmate from the Brandon Correctional Center was arrested for Breach of Court Order for contacting a female contrary to a condition of the Order. The man is scheduled to appear in Court on Friday.

At approximately 3:20 p.m., Police responded to a residence in the North End for a disturbance. A 21-year-old male found within the residence was on a Probation Order with a condition to not attend the residence. He was arrested for Breach of Probation and released to attend Court in February.


 Other Arrests:

One individual was detained under the Intoxicated Person Detention Act, to be released when sober.

A 17-year-old male youth was arrested under the LCGA for Consuming Liquor Under 18 years of age after causing problems in a residence. The youth was lodged at the Correctional Center to be released when sober.
