Brandon Police Service Media Release

 

Impaired Driving:

 

At approximately 11:10 p.m., Police observed a vehicle enter into a parking lot at 7th Street and Princess Avenue disobeying a do not enter sign. The vehicle then sped off at a high rate of speed however was eventually stopped in a parking lot in the 400 Block of 8th Street. The male driver of the vehicle displayed signs of impairment and was transported to the Police Service where breath samples obtained were in excess of the legal limit. The 26-year-old male from Portage La Prairie was arrested for Impaired Driving and Drive Over 80 mg%. He was released to attend Court later this month.

 

 

 

 

 

Assault:

 

On Monday night, officers attended a residence in the 300 Block of 15th Street to conduct a well being check on a female after a concerned friend contacted Police. Investigation revealed that the female was punched in the throat by her boyfriend. The boyfriend, an 18-year-old male from Brandon was located and arrested for Domestic Assault. He was released to attend Court in December. The female victim did not receive any physical injuries because of the assault.

 

On November 2nd 2017, a female attempted to steal $88 worth of merchandise from a business in the 1000 Block of Richmond Avenue. Staff approached the female and the female suspect punched an employee in the face and fled the business. The incident was captured on security surveillance video and the suspect identified. On Monday afternoon, the suspect was arrested for Assault and Theft Under $5000 at the Brandon Correctional Center where she is being held on unrelated charges. The 23-year-old female is scheduled to appear in Court on Tuesday.

 

 

 

Theft of Snowmobile:

 

A homeowner from Windsor Drive reported to Police that a 2009 Arctic Cat F570 snowmobile was stolen from beside the residence sometime between November 12th and November 13th. The snowmobile is mostly green in color with some white and black. Police investigation continues.

 

 

 

Theft of Vehicle:

 

At approximately 12:15 a.m., a resident of Coulter Way reported theft of vehicle from the garage that occurred 10 minutes prior. The vehicle owner indicated starting the vehicle and returning to the residence for a short time. Upon returning to the garage, the vehicle was stolen. The vehicle is a 2010 Dodge Journey with Manitoba licence plate GSY 191 and is silver and blue in color. Police investigation continues.

 

 

 

Recovered Stolen Vehicle:

 

On Monday afternoon, Police attended to a parking lot on Cornell Bay after being notified that a vehicle has been abandoned for several days. A red Saturn vehicle with Manitoba licence plate EGL 391 was recovered. The vehicle was reported stolen on November 5th. Police investigation continues.

 

 

 

 

 

Other Arrests:

 

Two individuals were detained under the Intoxicated Person Detention Act, to be released when sober.

 

Two individuals were arrested for Breach of the Peace and lodged at the Brandon Correctional Center, to be released when sober.
