Brandon Police Service Media Release

Break and Enter:

 

At approximately 5:36 a.m., a tenant of an apartment in the 1000 Block of Lorne Avenue reported that two males broke into the apartment and stole jewelry and a laptop computer. One of the suspects was described as male, wearing a black sweater with a white mask covering his face. The other suspect is described as male, wearing an orange sweater with a white mask and red gloves. One suspect was armed with a machete and the other with a knife. Both suspects then fled the area on foot in an unknown direction. Police attended and a k-9 unit conducted a track, which met with negative results but were able to locate a machete and red gloves several blocks away. Police investigation continues. 

 

At approximately 3:44 a.m., Police responded to an alarm at a business in the 1700 Block of Rosser Avenue. A window to an over door was smashed out. A k-9 unit attended and conducted a track, which met with negative results. A bank deposit bag containing an unknown amount of cash was stolen. Police investigation continues. 

 

Arrest Warrant Executed:

 

On Monday night, Police checked two females walking in the 300 Block of 10th Street. A 24-year-old female was found to have an outstanding Warrant of Arrest for Breach of Probation. A 25-year-old female was found to have an outstanding Warrant of Arrest for Failing to Attend Court. Both females were arrested and lodged at the Brandon Correctional Center to appear in Court on Tuesday.

  

Breach of Court Orders: 

At approximately 10:45 p.m., Police received information that a male was at the residence of a female and bound by a Protection Order to not attend the residence and have no contact or communication with the female. Police attended and arrested the 27-year-old man. He was lodged at the Brandon Correctional Center to appear in Court on Tuesday.

 

At approximately 12:33 a.m., Police conducted a curfew check on a female who is on a Recognizance with a curfew condition of 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. The female was not home however was located a short time later in a motel room. The 43-year-old female was arrested for Breach of Recognizance and lodged at the Brandon Correctional Center to appear in Court on Tuesday.    

 

Public Mischief, Possession of Prohibited Weapon: 

At approximately 3:12 p.m., a vehicle entered a Police Check-Stop and the male driver provided a false name to officers. Police located a can of bear spray and two knives in the possession of the man and he was also found to be the subject of a Recognizance with a condition to not possess any weapons. The 23-year-old man from Winnipeg was further found to have an outstanding Warrant of Arrest for Breach of Recognizance. The male was arrested for Public Mischief, Possession of a Prohibited Weapon, Breach of Recognizance and the warrant of Arrest. He was lodged at the Brandon Correctional Center to appear in Court on Tuesday.   

 

Other Arrests: 

Two individuals were detained under the Intoxicated Person Detention Act to be released when sober.

 

A 16-year-old female youth was arrested under the LCGA for consuming liquor under 18 years of age after being intoxicated and causing problems inside a residence. The youth was lodged at the Brandon Correctional Center to be released when sober.
