Brandon Police Service Media Release




 At 10:27 a.m., a male called Police and reported being robbed between 1:30 a.m., and 1:45 a.m., the night prior outside of a downtown drinking establishment. The male reported that when he left the establishment, two men approached him and demanded he give them everything or they were going to stab him. The victim handed over three cans of beer and the suspects left the area. Both suspects are described as aboriginal in appearance, between 18-25 years old and both wearing dark hooded sweaters and dark colored pants. Police investigation continues.




 Obstruct Peace Officer:


At approximately 9:25 a.m., Police stopped a vehicle for speeding in the 600 Block of 6th Street. The male driver of the vehicle became verbally aggressive, resistive and confrontational with Police. The behavior escalated to the point where the male had to be restrained. The 77-year-old man from Brandon was arrested for Obstruct Peace Officer and released to attend Court in November.  




 Arrest Warrant Executed:


At 6:30 p.m., Police received a report of intoxicated person in a downtown business. Officers attended and located a male and female. The 19-year-old female was found to have an outstanding Warrant of Arrest for Theft Under $5000 and Fail to Comply with a Court Order. She was arrested and released to attend Court in October.  The 23-year-old man was found intoxicated and bound by a Probation Order with conditions to have no contact with the female and to abstain from the consumption of alcohol. He was lodged at the Brandon Correctional Center to be released when sober to attend Court in November.




Domestic Assault:


At 10:00 p.m., Police received a report that a female was assaulted behind a building in the 300 Block of 9th Street. Officers located a 14-year-old female youth and learned that she was assaulted by her boyfriend who had left the area. The assault consisted of the male slapping the victim in the face. Officers were able to locate the 16-year-old male youth and arrested him for Domestic Assault. He was released to attend Court in October. The victim did not sustain physical injuries because of the assault.






Other Arrests:


Three individuals were arrested for Breach of the Peace and lodged at the Brandon Correctional Center to be released when sober.


Two individuals were detained under the Intoxicated Person Detention Act to be released when sober.
