Brandon Police Service Media Release

 

Impaired Driving:

 

 At 11:15 p.m., Police received a report of a possible impaired driver in the drive-thru of a fast food restaurant on Victoria Avenue. Police located the vehicle at 18th Street and Victoria Avenue and a traffic stop was initiated. The vehicle pulled over and struck the curb prior to coming to a stop. The driver of the vehicle displayed signs of being impaired and was transported to the Police Service where breath samples obtained were in excess of the legal limit. The 27-year-old female from Portage La Prairie was arrested for Impaired Driving and Driver Over 80 mg%. She was released to attend Court later this month.  

 

 

 

 Possession of Property Obtained By Crime:

 

At approximately 2:46 a.m., a resident from the west end of Brandon reported that her vehicle was entered while parked in the driveway and her wallet stolen. A witness observed three males running from the vehicle. Several other calls were received from residents of the same area reporting these males entering vehicles. Police attended and located the suspects as they were preparing to get into a taxicab. All three males were found to have items in their possession from several vehicles. Investigation revealed that the suspects entered approximately 20 vehicles over the course of the night. Several wallets, credit cards and other items were recovered from the suspects. A 16-year-old male youth has been arrested for Possession of Property Obtained By Crime X 4. The youth was also found to be in Breach of Recognizance. He was lodged at the Brandon Correctional Center to appear in Court on Friday. A 14-year-old male youth has ben arrested for Possession of a Stolen Credit Card X 3 and Possession of Property Obtained By Crime X 2. He has been released to attend Court in October. The third suspect arrested is also a 14-year-old male youth. He was arrested for Possession of Stolen Credit Card X 3 and Possession of Property Obtained By Crime X 2. He was released to attend Court in October. Further charges may follow as the investigation continues.

 

 

 

 Domestic Assault:

 

At 5:56 a.m., Police responded to a domestic disturbance outside of a Motel on Middleton Avenue. A male was located by Police and found to be bleeding and had scratches on his face. The investigation revealed that the male and his wife engaged in an argument that became physical. The female was located and had several bruises on her arms and legs because of the physical altercation. Both parties were highly intoxicated and the 26-year-old female and 29-year-old man were arrested for Domestic Assault. Both were lodged at the Brandon Correctional Center to appear in Court on Friday. Medical attention was not required for the male or female.  

 

 

 

Breach of Court Orders:

 

At A 30-year-old man from Brandon was arrested on Thursday morning for Breach of Recognizance stemming from a no contact or communication order that he breached on September 7th.  The man attended to the residence of a female while bound by the order not to contact the female. He was lodged at the Brandon Correctional Center to appear in Court on Friday.

 

On Thursday afternoon, Police conducted a vehicle stop in the 1500 Block of 1st Street on a vehicle with inactive license plates. Police recovered a small amount of drug-contaminated baggies from within the vehicle. The male passenger in the vehicle was also found to be intoxicated by drug use. The passenger was found to be the subject of a Probation Order with conditions to abstain from the possession and consumption of illegal drugs. The 30-year-old man from Brandon was arrested for Breach of Probation and lodged at the Brandon Correctional Center to be released when sober to attend Court in October.

 

On September 6th, a female reported being contacted by a male through social media messages and the male is bound by an Undertaking to have no contact or communication with her. The 26-year-old man was located on Thursday night and arrested for Breach of Undertaking. He was released to attend Court in October.

 

 

 

Other Arrests:

 

A 25-year-old man turned himself into Police for having an outstanding Warrant of Arrest for Breach of Probation. He was arrested and released to attend Court in October.
