Brandon Police Service Media Release

 

Robbery:

 

 At approximately 1:44 p.m., Police received a 911 call reporting a Robbery that occurred outside of a downtown business. Investigation revealed that a female victim exited the business and was approached by a male who brandished a knife and demanded the victim hand over her purse. The victim complied and the male suspect fled east on Rosser Avenue on a bicycle. Police conducted a search of the area that met with negative results. The suspect is described as aboriginal in appearance, short in stature with a small build. The victim did not sustain any physical injuries because of this incident. Police investigation continues.

 

 

Stolen Vehicle Recovered:

 

At approximately 1:40 a.m., Police noticed a stolen Ford F-250 truck driving in the 600 Block of 1st Street. A vehicle stop was attempted but the vehicle fled eastbound off road alongside the railroad tracks. Officers lost sight of the vehicle near 17th Street and the pursuit was abandoned. At 5:35 a.m., Police received information that two individuals were inside a business compound on Richmond Avenue East. Police attended and located the abandoned stolen truck. An adult female was located in the area and has been taken into Police custody. Police continue to investigate this matter.  

 

 

 

Assault:

 

On Monday evening, a male victim contacted Police advising he was assaulted by a male who is known to him. The victim sustained a broken nose because of the assault and was transported to hospital for medical treatment. Police located the male suspect in the 700 Block of Rosser Avenue and he was taken into Police custody. The 29-year-old man from Brandon was arrested for Assault Causing Bodily Harm and was also found to be in Breach of a Recognizance. The male suspect was lodged at the Brandon Correctional Center to appear in Court on Tuesday.  The victim was released from hospital after receiving medical treatment.

 

 

 

Arrest Warrant Executed:

 

On Monday afternoon, Police checked a male in the 500 Block of 5th Street. The male was found to have outstanding Warrants of Arrest for Assault with a Weapon, Uttering Threats, Breach of Probation and Fail to Attend Court. The 27-year-old man from Brandon was arrested and lodged at the Brandon Correctional Center to appear in Court on Tuesday.

 

 

 

 

 

Breach of Recognizance:

 

At approximately 2:10 a.m., while dealing with another matter Police came upon a female who was known to be the subject of a Recognizance with a condition to observe a daily curfew. The 32-year-old female was arrested for Breach of Recognizance and lodged at the Brandon Correctional Center to appear in Court on Tuesday.  

 

 

 

 

 

Other Arrests:

 

One individual was detained under the Intoxicated Person Detention Act, to be released when sober.

 

One individual was arrested for Breach of Peace and detained at the Brandon Correctional Center.
