Brandon Police Service Media Release

 

Robbery:

 

At 11:04 p.m., an employee of a business in the 500 Block of 1st Street reported being Robbed by a male with a handgun. The male suspect was wearing a dark colored hooded sweater with the hood pulled up, a mask covering his face, blue gloves and blue jeans. The suspect pointed the handgun at the employee and left the business with a cash drawer. Police attended and located the cash drawer outside of the business. The suspect was last seen fleeing on foot south from the business. Police conducted extensive patrols of the area, which met with negative results. The investigation continues.

 

 

Theft Under $5000:

 

At approximately 10:36 p.m., an employee of a hotel in the 900 Block of Middleton Avenue reported a male suspect had stolen a purse from behind the front desk belonging to another employee. The owner of the purse observed the theft and approached the male, recovering the purse. The male fled from the hotel however was located by Police hiding in the bathroom of nearby gas station. The male was in possession of a BB gun and in Breach of a Probation Order. The 17-year-old male youth was arrested for Theft Under $5000 and Breach of Probation. He was lodged at the Brandon Correctional Center to appear in Court on Thursday.

 

As a result of an ongoing investigation from July 28th where a male stole several lottery tickets from a business in the 1100 Block of 1st Street, Police have arrested a 30 year old man. The male was recorded on video surveillance, which led Police to discovering his identity. The same male was also identified as the suspect in a theft of a purse from a vehicle that was parked behind a business in the 600 Block of 18th Street on July 29th. The male is in custody at the Brandon Correctional Center facing other charges. He was arrested on Wednesday evening and will appear in Court on Thursday.

 

On Wednesday afternoon, Police arrested a 29-year-old man from Brandon for Theft Under $5000 as a result of a theft of merchandise which occurred at a business in the 900 Block of Victoria Avenue on July 27th. The male was also found to be breaching a Recognizance by not residing as directed. The male was lodged at the Brandon Correctional Center and will appear in Court on Thursday.

 

On Wednesday afternoon, Police arrested a 29-year-old man from Brandon for stealing $90.00 worth of merchandise from a business in the 900 Block of Victoria Avenue on August 2nd. The man was identified by store security video surveillance. He was released to attend Court in October.

 

 

Attempt Stolen Vehicle:

 

On Wednesday morning, a female reported the attempt theft of her 2005 Ford Crown Victoria vehicle which occurred sometime overnight while the vehicle was parked in the 300 Block of 15th street. The vehicle ignition was damaged and the hood up slightly. Police continue to investigate.

 

 

Break and Enter:

 

On Wednesday morning, a homeowner from Ottawa Crescent reported that sometime between July 30th and August 5th someone entered an unlocked shed on the property and stole women`s 27 speed Giant mountain bike. The mountain bike is described as champagne in color and valued at $800. Police continue to investigate.

 

 

Other Arrest:

 

On Wednesday evening, Police arrested a 22-year-old man from Brandon for Breach of Undertaking. On July 22nd, the man sent a text message to his ex-girlfriend while bound by an Undertaking with a condition to have no contact or communication with her. The man was lodged at the Brandon Correctional Center and will appear in Court on Thursday.

 

One individual was arrested for Breach of the Peace and detained at the Brandon Correctional Center to be released when sober.
