Special Media Release


On 2017-05-31 the Dakota Ojibway Police Service, through the Department of Justice, requested that the Brandon Police Service conduct an investigation into allegations made against an off-duty member of the Dakota Ojibway Police Service.  This investigation was completed under the monitoring of the Provincial Independent Investigation Unit.  A member of the Dakota Ojibway Police Service was subsequently charged with one count of Domestic Related Common Assault and one count of Common Assault stemming from an incident on 2017-05-19 on a First Nation Community.  The accused was released from custody on an Officer In Charge Undertaking.  The name of the accused person will not be released.  It is not the practice of the Brandon Police Service to release the names of accused persons.  Releasing the name of the accused person could identify the victims.  As this is a pending court matter the Brandon Police Service will release no further information at this time.
