Brandon Police Service Media Release

 

Assault with a Weapon, Breach Undertaking, Breach Recognizance:

 

At 11:49 p.m., Police received a 911 call of a female injured at a business in the 900 Block of Rosser Avenue. Officers attended and learned a male hit the female in the face with a drinking glass. The male was located and arrested. The male was found to be on an Undertaking from Saskatoon with conditions not possess weapons and must reside at a residence in Saskatoon. The male was also found to be bound by a Recognizance from Edmonton with conditions to observe a curfew, abstain from the consumption of alcohol, not to enter a licensed premise and not to possess weapons. Further, the male was found to have a Warrant for his Arrest held by Saskatoon Police Service for Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Cocaine. The 27-year-old male was arrested for Assault with a Weapon, Assault Cause Bodily Harm, Breach of Undertaking X2, Breach of Recognizance X4 and the Warrant. He was lodged at the Brandon Correctional Center to appear in Court on Thursday. The female was transported to hospital to receive treatment for facial injuries. Circumstances surrounding what precipitated this assault and the relationship if any between the supect and victim is still being investigated.

 

 

Aggravated Assault:

 

On June 24th, 2017, Police received a report that a male was assaulted while at a residence in the 700 Block of Rosser Avenue. The victim reported that a male attempted to fight him and he attempted to leave but was followed by the suspect. The suspect assaulted the victim by punching him several times in the face and head until the victim became unconscious. The suspect continued the assault and stomped on the victims head while the victim was in an unconscious state. The 27-year-old male suspect from White Bear, Saskatchewan was located on Wednesday and Arrested for Aggravated Assault. The suspect was released to attend Court in August. The victim sustained face and head injuries because of the attack. The victim has been released from hospital but continues with medical treatment.

 

 

Arrest Warrant Executed:

 

At 2:00 a.m., Police checked two males in the 400 Block of Park Avenue. One of the males was found to have an Endorsed Warrant for his Arrest for Fail to Attend Court and was bound by an Undertaking with a condition to obey a curfew. The 16-year-old male youth was arrested and lodged at the Brandon Correctional Center to appear in Court on Thursday.

 

 

Break, Enter and Theft:

 

At 3:42 a.m., staff from a business in the 1200 Block of 18th Street reported a male forced open the drive thru window of the business and stole a Tablet from inside the business. The male then fled on foot in a North bound direction. Police located the male a few blocks away. The Tablet was recovered and the 28-year-old man from Brandon was arrested for Break, Enter and Theft. The male was intoxicated and bound by an Undertaking with a condition to not consume alcohol. The male was lodged at the Brandon Correctional Center to be released when sober to attend Court in September.

 

 

 

Other Arrests:

 

On Wednesday afternoon, staff from the Brandon Correctional Center advised Police that a female inmate attempted to contact a male inmate by sending letters. The female is bound by a Recognizance to have no contact or communication with the male. The 22-year-old female was arrested for Breach of Recognizance and is scheduled to appear in Court on Thursday.

 

One individual was arrested for Breach of the Peace and detained at the Brandon Correctional Center.
