Brandon Police Service Media Release


Sexual Assault:


On July 7, 2017, Police received a complaint of a sexual assault that occurred 5 years ago. The female victim was 7 years old at the time of the offence with the suspect 15 years of age. The sexual assault consisted of the male suspect touching the victim in a sexual manner. On Tuesday afternoon, Police arrested the male for Sexual Assault, Sexual Interference and Invitation to Sexual Touching. The suspect was arrested on Tuesday afternoon and will appear in Court later this month.



Domestic Assault:


At 10:44 a.m., a male attended to the Police Service and reported that his girlfriend had just assaulted him. The assault consisted of the female suspect pushing the victim. The victim was not physically injured because of the assault. The 35-year-old female was arrested for Domestic Assault and released to attend Court in August.



Arrest Warrants Executed:


On Tuesday afternoon, a 21-year-old female from Brandon attended to the Police Service and turned herself in for having a Warrant of Arrest for Breach of Recognizance. The female was arrested and lodged at the Brandon Correctional Center to appear in Court on Wednesday.


At 2:00 a.m., Police responded to a report of a highly intoxicated man walking on Brandon Avenue. The man was located and found to have an endorsed Warrant for his Arrest for Assault and Mischief to Property. The 29-year-old man was arrested and lodged at the Brandon Correctional Center to appear in Court on Wednesday.





At 3:48 p.m., an employee from a business in the 900 Block of 18th street North reported following a suspect out of the business with stolen merchandise. Police attended and arrested the 24-year-old male suspect for Theft Under $5000. The male was released to attend Court in September and all merchandise was recovered.



Other Arrests:


At 4:54 a.m., a homeowner from 20th Street North reported someone banging on her windows. A highly intoxicated 40-year-old man was located hiding in the yard. The male was found to be the subject of an Undertaking with a condition to abstain from the consumption of alcohol. The man was arrested and lodged at the Brandon Correctional Center to appear in Court on Wednesday.


Two individuals were arrested and detained at the Brandon Correctional for Breach of the Peace.
