Brandon Police Service Media Release


Domestic Assault:


On Sunday evening, a female attended to Brandon Police Service and reported that at 2:30 a.m., her boyfriend assaulted her. The female victim reported that she was at her boyfriend’s residence when an argument ensued that resulted in the boyfriend throwing her to the floor and attempting to stomp on her face. The victim did not receive physical injuries because of the assault. Police attended to the residence of the suspect and a consensual search of the residence recovered a Savage 17 rifle. The suspect does not have a licence to possess the firearm. The 24-year-old male from Brandon was arrested for Domestic Assault and Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm; he was released to attend Court in August.





At 5:15 p.m., an employee from a business in the 900 Block of Victoria Avenue reported attempting to apprehend a male for shoplifting $76.15 worth of merchandise. The male suspect fled on foot but dropped the merchandise in the parking lot. At 5:30 p.m., Police located the male in a downtown drinking establishment. The 42-year-old male from Brandon was arrested for Theft Under $5000 and due to intoxication was lodged at the Brandon Correctional Center to be released when sober to attend Court in August.


On March 17th 2017, Police received a complaint from a business in the 1000 Block of Victoria Avenue that a female stole merchandise valued at $27.49. Video surveillance identified a female suspect and on Sunday evening, the 38-year-old female from Brandon was arrested for Theft Under $5000. The female was released to attend Court in September.



Arrest Warrant Executed:


At 7:01 a.m., a female called 911 requesting Police attend to her residence. The female refused to provide further information other than that her leg was injured. The female was found to have an Endorsed Warrant for her Arrest for Failing to Attend for Finger Prints. The 61-year-old female was arrested and released to attend Court in August. The female was cleared medically by Brandon Fire and Emergency Services.





Other Arrests:


At 12:45 p.m., Police located a male passed out in the alley in the 1200 Block Rosser Avenue. The 25-year-old man was detained at the Brandon Correctional Center under the Intoxicated Person Detention Act to be released when sober.
