Brandon Police Service Media Release


Break, Enter and Commit Assault:



At 4:12 a.m., Police attended to a report of a Domestic Disturbance at an apartment on 10th Street. Investigation discovered that a male  used a spare key to gain entry to the secure building and then kicked in his ex-girlfriend’s apartment door. After forcing his way into the apartment, the male then assaulted his ex-girlfriend. The 43-year-old male from Brandon was arrested for Break, Enter and Commit Assault. The male was lodged at the Brandon Correctional Center to appear in Court on Friday. The female victim did not receive physical injuries as a result of the assault.


Break and Enter:


At 11:07 p.m., a homeowner from Regent Crescent reported returning home after a period of time away to find the residence broken into and ransacked. Entry was gained to the residence through patio doors and stolen items include a MacBook, two cell phones, cash, power drill and three chequebooks. Police continue to investigate.


At 5:22 p.m., a homeowner from the 2400 Block of Richmond Avenue reported returning home to find that sometime during the day the residence was broken into through the rear sliding door. Items had been thrown throughout the residence and missing items include two passports and a chequebook. Police continue to investigate.



Possession of Property Obtained by Crime:


On July 6th, Police received a report that an IPod was stolen from an unlocked car in the 100 Block of 7th Street. Police were able to track the device using an APP on the IPOD. At 11:30 p.m., Police attended to a motel in the 300 Block of 18th Street North. A male and female were located with the male found in Possession of the stolen IPOD. The male was also found to have a Warrant for his Arrest for Possession of a Dangerous Weapon, Carry a Concealed Weapon and Breach of Undertaking. The female was found to have a Warrant for her Arrest for Breach of Undertaking. The 22-year-old man from Brandon was arrested and lodged at the Brandon Correctional Center to appear in Court on Friday. The 23-year-old female from Brandon was released to attend Court in August. 





Arrest Warrant Executed:


At 9:25 p.m., Police checked a female walking in the 1100 Block of Pacific Avenue. The female was found to have a Warrant for her Arrest for Breach of Probation. The 26-year-old female from Brandon was arrested and released to attend Court in August.



Theft Under $5000:


On June 19th, Police received a report of a stolen bicycle from Linden Lanes School. The incident was captured on video surveillance and showed the suspect cut the lock and ride the bicycle away. On Thursday afternoon, Police were able to confirm the identity of the suspect who is in custody at the Brandon Correctional Center on unrelated matters. The 25-year-old man was arrested for Theft Under $5000 and is scheduled to appear in Court on Friday.



Other Arrests:


At 12:02 a.m., Police located a male passed out behind a business in the 1000 Block of 18th Street. The male was detained under the Intoxicated Person Detention Act to be released when sober.
