Brandon Police Service Media Release

Theft of Vehicle:

At 2:30 a.m., Police received a report of a stolen vehicle from a parking lot on Willowdale Crescent. The vehicle was left unlocked with keys in the ignition as the operator entered into the store. The stolen vehicle is a 2007 Nissan Pathfinder Grey in color with Manitoba license plate HMJ 604. At 3:10 a.m., Police located the stolen vehicle on 1st North and attempted a vehicle stop. The stolen vehicle sped away and refused to stop for Police. A pursuit ensued with the stolen vehicle travelling southbound on 1st. The pursuit continued west on Richmond Avenue and the suspect began driving westbound in the eastbound lanes of traffic. Speeds of the pursuit reached 130 km/h and Police decided to no longer continue with the pursuit. The stolen vehicle was last seen travelling North on 13th Street. The vehicle has not yet been recovered and Police continue to investigate. The driver of the stolen vehicle is described as male, caucasion in appearance, wearing a baseball hat. There were no other occupants in the stolen vehicle.  

Break and Enter:

At 2:06 a.m., Police responded to a disturbance at an apartment in the 600 Block of 6th Street. Police learned that the vehicle was broken into with the suite sustaining extensive damage including items thrown about the suite with the walls damaged. Entry was determined to be through the front door to the apartment. Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding this Break and Enter.

At 12:41 p.m., a homeowner on Kingston Place reported that sometime overnight the detached garage to the residence was entered. Vehicles were gone through however nothing was reported stolen. Police continue to investigate.

Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Methamphetamine & Cocaine:

A 7:06 p.m., Police responded to a disturbance at a business in the 1000 Block of 18th street. Police recognized a male and female sitting together and were aware that the female was bound by a Probation Order to have no contact or communication with the male. The female was arrested and a search of the female recovered 6.1 grams of methamphetamine, 1.3 grams of cocaine and other items consistent with drug trafficking. The female was also found to be intoxicated which is in violation of an Undertaking that she is currently on. The 34-year-old female was arrested for Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Methamphetamine & Cocaine as well as Breach of Probation and Breach of Undertaking. The female suspect was lodged at the Brandon Correctional Center to appear in Court on Wednesday. The street value of the drugs is estimated at $1300.

The 24-year-old man was found to be on a Probation Order with conditions to abstain from alcohol and to have no contact or communication with the female. The male was arrested and lodged at the Brandon Correctional Center to be released when sober to attend Court in August.

Arrest Warrants Executed:

On Tuesday afternoon, a female attended to the Police Service to turn herself in on a Warrant of Arrest for Failing to Attend Court and Failing to Attend for Finger Prints. The 49-year-old female was arrested and lodged at the Brandon Correctional Center to appear in Court on Wednesday.

On Tuesday afternoon, Police observed a male in a downtown business and were aware that the man had a Warrant for his Arrest for Failing to Attend Court. The 38-year-old man was arrested and lodged at the Brandon Correctional Center to appear in Court on Wednesday.

Theft Under $5000:

At 9:25 a.m., Police responded to an apartment in the 1200 Block of Rosser Avenue after a tenant reported a male stole property from him. The male suspect was located and the property was recovered. The suspect was found to be on a Probation Order to not attend the apartment building. The 24-year-old male from Brandon was arrested for Theft Under $5000 and Breach of Probation. The male was released to attend Court in August.

On Tuesday afternoon, an employee of a business in the 900 Block of Victoria Avenue contacted Police after apprehending a male suspect stealing $42 worth of merchandise. The 29-year-old male from Brandon was arrested for Theft Under $5000 and released to attend Court in August.

Possession of Stolen Property:

On June 27th 2017, Police received a report of stolen bicycle from a residence in the 300 Block of 14th Street. A description and serial number for the bicycle was provided. On Tuesday afternoon, a male attended to the Police Service on the bicycle to file an unrelated report. Police noticed the bicycle and confirmed it to be the same stolen bicycle. The 48-year-old man from Brandon was arrested for Possession of Property Obtained by Crime and released to attend Court in August. The bicycle was returned to the rightful owner.

Other Arrests:

On June 26th, a 16-year-old female was reported to have breached a curfew condition of her Undertaking. The female was arrested on Tuesday and released to attend Court in August.

At 9:00 p.m., Police located a highly intoxicated male in the 900 Block of Princess Avenue. The male was consuming liquor and was arrested under LGCA . The 23-year-old male was lodged at the Brandon Correctional Center to be released when sober.
