Brandon Police Service Media Release

Impaired Driving:


At 2:24 a.m., Police conducted a vehicle stop in the 600 Block of 18th Street. The driver of the vehicle displayed signs of impairment and was returned to the Police Service where breath samples obtained exceeded the legal limit. The 20-year-old male from Brandon was arrested for Impaired Driving and Driver Over 80mg%. The male was released to attend Court later this month.


Break & Enter:

At 3:49 p.m., Police attended to a residence on Cornell Bay after receiving a call of a Break and Enter to the residence with numerous windows broken. A male and female who resided in the residence previously were identified as possible suspects. While investigating at the residence, Police noticed the male suspect riding a bicycle in the area and when he observed Police, he attempted to flee. The 21-year-old male from Brandon was arrested for Break and Enter and Mischief to Property. The male was lodged at the Brandon Correctional Center to appear in Court on Friday. Police continue to investigate to identify other individuals responsible for this offence.

Arrest Warrants Executed:

On Thursday afternoon, Police observed a male and female walking together in the 800 Block of Princess avenue. Both were known to have outstanding Warrants of Arrest for Breach of Probation. The 19-year-old male from Brandon and 19-year-old female from Brandon were arrested and released to attend Court in July.

At 11:04 a.m., Police observed a male in the 200 Block of 11th Street and were aware that the male had an outstanding Warrant for his Arrest for Carry a Concealed Weapon and Fail to Attend Court. The 30-year-old male from Brandon was arrested and lodged at the Brandon Correctional Center to appear in Court on Friday.

Indecent Act in a Public Place:

On June 10th 2017, Police received a complaint of a male conducting an indecent act while standing in front of a playground in the 800 Block of 26th Street. Through investigation, officers were able to obtain a photograph of the suspect, which was circulated, to Police members on Thursday afternoon. At 4:33 p.m., an off duty officer noticed the male suspect in the 2600 Block of Victoria Avenue. Police attended, arrested the suspect and the 62 year old male from Brandon was released to attend Court in August.

Breach of Probation:

On Thursday afternoon, Police received information from staff at the Brandon Correctional Center that a male inmate contacted a female while bound by a Probation Order to have no contact or communication with the female. The 29-year-old male was arrested and is to appear in Court on Friday.

Other Arrests:

Four individuals were detained under the Intoxicated Person Detention Act to be released on Friday when sober.

One individual was arrested for Breach of the Peace and detained at the Brandon Correctional Center to be released when sober.
