Brandon Police Service Media Release

Robbery:

At 11:53 p.m., a female contacted Police and reported that while she was in the area of 9th Street and Princess Avenue, two males approached her and demanded money. The female provided a quantity of cash to the male suspects as well as some personal identification. The victim was able to leave unharmed and called Police shortly after this incident. Police attended the area but were unable to locate the suspects. The male suspects are described as:

  1. Aboriginal in appearance, long hair, wearing black sleeveless shirt.
  2. Aboriginal in appearance, short hair, wearing white shirt and blue jean shorts.

Police continue to investigate this Robbery.

Obstruct Justice, Breach of Recognizance:

In 2015, Police began an investigation into Human Trafficking, which led to the arrest of a 38-year-old man from Brandon. The man was arrested and has been held in custody at the Brandon Correctional Center. In March of 2017, Police were advised that the male while in custody breached a condition of his Recognizance by contacting a female who he was to have no contact or communication with. During these communications, the suspect counselled the female to not testify in the court proceedings. On Monday afternoon, the male was arrested for Obstruct Justice and Breach of Recognizance. The man remains in custody, to appear in Court on Tuesday.

Arrest Warrant Executed:

At 6:43 p.m., Police responded to a disturbance in an apartment in the 500 Block of Pacific Avenue. An intoxicated female was located and found to have an Unendorsed Warrant for her Arrest for Fail to Attend Court. The 33-year-old female was arrested and lodged at the Brandon Correctional Center to appear in Court on Tuesday.

On Monday evening, Police attended to a residence on Acadia BLVD in attempt to locate a male with an outstanding Warrant of Arrest for Fail to Attend Court. The 35-year-old male from Brandon was located, arrested and released to attend Court in July.

Other Arrests:

At 11:04 p.m., Police responded to a disturbance at a residence on Cornell Bay. A highly intoxicated 15-year-old female was causing problems and damaging items. The female youth was arrested under the LGCA for consuming liquor under 18 years of age and lodged at the Brandon Correctional Center to be released when sober.

A 32-year-old male from Brandon was arrested and detained at the Brandon Correctional Center for Breach of the Peace. At 3:41 a.m., the male and a female were located arguing in the 700 Block of Rosser Avenue. The male was highly intoxicated and uncooperative.

A 47-year-old man from Brandon was detained under the intoxicated Person Detention Act to be released when sober.
