Brandon Police Service Media Release

Robbery Arrests:

As a result, of the ongoing Robbery investigation that occurred at a motel in the 300 Block of 18th Street North on Tuesday, a 23-year-old female and 19-year-old female both from Brandon have been arrested for Robbery and Theft of Vehicle. Investigation to date reveals that the females assisted the male arrested on June 7th in the Robbery and were part of the theft of the victim’s cash and vehicle. Both females were released to attend Court in August. The circumstances surrounding this incident are still being investigated. The victim remains in hospital with non-life threatening face and head injuries.

Attempt Robbery Arrest:

At 1:39 p.m., after on-going investigation into the attempted Robbery that occurred on Rosser Avenue on Wednesday morning, a 31-year-old female from Brandon has been arrested. The incident was captured on video surveillance that revealed the identity of the suspect. The female was released to attend Court in August.

Arrest Warrants Executed:

At 4:50 p.m., a 15-year-old female from Brandon turned herself into Police for having an outstanding Warrant for her Arrest for Breach of Undertaking, Breach of Probation and Fail to Attend Court. She was released to attend Court in July.

At 1:14 p.m., a 27-year-old female from Brandon was arrested on an outstanding Warrant of Arrest for Breach of Probation. She was lodged at the Brandon Correctional Center to appear in Court on Friday.

Theft Under $5000 Arrest:

On Thursday evening, Police attended to a business in the 900 Block of 18th Street North after staff called advising a male stole a quantity of merchandise. The employee chased the suspect who fled the store and Police arrested the male a short distance away. The suspect had over $300.00 worth of merchandise on him at the time of arrest. The 32-year-old male from Brandon was arrested for Theft Under $5000 and was released to attend Court in August.

Possession of Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose Arrest:

At 12:00 a.m., while attending another call, an officer observed a male acting suspiciously in the 400 Block of 6th Street. The officer attempted to speak to the male and the male fled on foot. The officer was able to apprehend the male suspect and the male was found to be in the possession of a large knife and a replica firearm. The 16-year-old male was arrested and found to be on Probation with a condition to not possess weapons. The male youth was lodged at the Brandon Correctional Center to be released in the morning to attend Court in July.

 

Other Arrests:

 

One individual was detained under the Intoxicated Person detention Act.

At 10:15 p.m., Police located two highly intoxicated females at the Fair. A 19-year-old female from Brandon was bound by an Undertaking with a condition to abstain from the consumption of alcohol. She was arrested and lodged at the Brandon Correctional Center to be released when sober to attend Court in August. A 16-year-old female from Sioux Valley F.N. was arrested under the LGCA to be released when sober.
