Brandon Police Service Media Release

Robbery:

At 2:30 p.m., a Police officer located the 1999 Mazda B4000 pickup truck that was stolen during a Robbery in the early morning hours of June 7th. The vehicle was located unoccupied, parked in the 800 Block of Louise Avenue. Police maintained surveillance on the vehicle and two males eventually entered the vehicle and drove off. A vehicle stop was conducted in a parking lot in the 900 Block of Victoria Avenue with two males taken into custody. A 24-year-old man and a 22-year-old man both from Brandon were arrested for Possession of Property Obtained by Crime. The men were transported to the Brandon Police Service and interviewed. Investigation found that the 24-year-old man was involved in the Robbery and the 22-year-old man was not. The 24-year-old man was additionally arrested for Aggravated Assault and Theft of Motor Vehicle. He was lodged at the Brandon Correctional Center to appear in Court on Thursday. The 22-year-old man was released to attend Court in July. Police continue to investigate this incident.

Attempt Robberies:

At 9:40 a.m., Police received a call from a female reporting that at 9:00 a.m., while walking in the 700 Block of Rosser Avenue, a female attempted to steal her purse. The suspect was not successful in the attempt and fled the area. The female suspect is described as mid 20`s, medium build and wearing a black hoody. The victim was not injured and Police continue to investigate.

AT 1:00p.m., a female reported walking in the area of 13th Street and Hill Avenue when a female suspect who demanded money approached her. The victim refused and was punched in the face by the suspect resulting in a minor injury to the victim. The suspect fled the area and is described as 20 years of age, medium build, long dark hair, wearing black sweat pants and a black shirt. Police continue to investigate and do not believe these incidents to be related.

Arrest Warrants Executed:

At approximately 3:00 p.m., Police observed a male known to have numerous outstanding Arrest Warrants walking in the 800 Block of Victoria Avenue. When the male saw Police he ran however, was apprehended a short distance away. The male was found to have three Unendorsed Warrants and one Endorsed Warrant for his Arrest for Assault with a Weapon, fail to Comply with Court Order, Theft of Motor Vehicle, Breach of Probation and Breach of Undertaking. The 16-year-old male youth was arrested on the strength of the Warrants and for Obstruct Justice. He was lodged at the Brandon Correctional Center to appear in Court on Thursday.

At 8:45 p.m., Police were in the 100 Block of 15th Street for an unrelated matter and observed a male youth in front of a residence. The male was found to have an outstanding warrant for Breach of Probation. The male youth was arrested and released to attend Court in July.

 

Breach of Court Order:

At 2:00 a.m., Police responded to a disturbance at a Motel in the 200 Block of 18th Street North. As Police approached the room, a male and female ran but were apprehended a short distance away. The female was found to be the subject of a Recognizance Order with conditions to have no contact with the male, observe a daily curfew and abstain from alcohol. The 24-year-old female from Brandon was arrested for Breach of Recognizance and lodged at the Brandon Correctional Center to appear in Court on Thursday.

Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Marihuana:

At 9:00 p.m., Police located a male in the process of making a drug transaction in the 100 Block of 15th Street. The male was found to have approximately 50 grams of Marihuana in his possession with a street value of $500. The 17-year-old male from Brandon was arrested for Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking. He was released to attend Court in July.

 

Other Arrests:

 

One individual was arrested for Breach of the Peace and detained at the Brandon Correctional Center.

One individual was detained under the Intoxicated Person detention Act.
