Brandon Police Service Media Release


At 5:13 p.m., Police responded to a report of an assault at a motel in the 300 Block of 18th Street North. A 47-year-old male was found unconscious with head injuries and was transported to the Brandon Regional Health Center. The suspects stole the victim’s 1999 Mazda B400 vehicle. The vehicle is green in color with Manitoba license plates GCG 499. The victim has regained consciousness however remains in hospital with facial and head injuries. Police continue to investigate.

Stolen Vehicle:

At 9:22 a.m., Police received a call from a homeowner in the 800 Block of 5th Street reporting theft of a 2014 Grey Dodge Journey with Manitoba License plate HTH 187. The vehicle was taken sometime overnight.

At 8:58 p.m., Police received a call from a resident in the 400 Block of 4th Street reporting a vehicle has been left in their parking lot and appears to have been broken into with damage to the front and back of the vehicle. Police attended and found that the vehicle is the same as the one reported stolen. Police continue to investigate.

Possession of Cocaine:

While investigating the Robbery at the motel in the 300 Block of 18th Street, a male attended to the scene and was observed to be trying to hide something from Police. The male was detained and Police recovered a small amount of cocaine. The 19-year-old male from Brandon was arrested and released to attend Court in July. The male is not believed to be involved in the Robbery.

Domestic Assault:

On June 3rd, a female reported to Police that on February 18th she had an altercation with her ex-boyfriend at a residence in the North End. The female reported that during the altercation, her ex-boyfriend put his hands around her neck and pushed her against a wall. On Tuesday evening, the 26-year-old male from Brandon was arrested for Domestic Assault and released to attend Court in July. The victim did not sustain any physical injuries because of the assault.

Arrest Warrants Executed:

A 19-year-old male from Brandon was arrested for having an outstanding endorsed Warrant of Arrest for Assault. The man was released to attend Court in July.

At 8:34 p.m., Police conducted a vehicle stop in the 900 Block of Lorne Avenue. The female driver provided a false name to Police and when her identity was revealed she was found to have an outstanding Warrant for her Arrest for Assault Causing Bodily Harm. The 19-year-old female from Brandon was arrested for Public Mischief and the outstanding Warrant, she was released to attend Court in August.


Break & Enter:

At 4:55 p.m., a homeowner from the 1000 Block of 3rd Street reported that sometime overnight the garage was broken into and two machetes stolen. Police attended and determined that entry was made into the garage through a window. Police continue to investigate.

Carry a Concealed Weapon:


At 11:04 a.m., an employee from a business in the 900 Block of Rosser Avenue called to report a male was causing a disturbance and is very disorientated. Police attended and located a large knife in the man’s waistband under his shirt. The 39-year-old man of no fixed address was arrested for Carrying a Concealed Weapon. While detained in the Police vehicle, the man began banging his head on the window cage. The man was transported to hospital for a cut to his head and to receive a mental health assessment.

Other Arrests:


Two individuals were arrested for Breach of the Peace and detained at the Brandon Correctional Center.

Two individuals were detained under the Intoxicated Person detention Act.


Car Hopping Update:


As a result of continued investigation, the two individuals arrested on June 6th have been charged with four more counts of Possession of Stolen Property. Police still have numerous items believed to be stolen from vehicles in relation to this incident. Some of the items include:

Samsung Phone with Metallic Blue case

Black iPad

Black Hockey Stick

In addition, an assortment of phone chargers, lighters, flashlights and other miscellaneous items.
