Brandon Police Service Media Release

NEWS RELEASE: 2016 Annual Report

The Brandon Police Service is pleased to present to the public the 2016 Annual Report.

This document highlights the great work of the employees of the Police Service in working with and for the community to ensure the safety and security of our resident.

It specifically addresses efforts in the areas of Community Engagement and Mobilization, Downtown Safety and the tremendous work done to bring to justice those involved in a variety of high profile crimes. This includes a major joint forces Drug and Firearms investigation named “Project Derringer.”

Partnerships are important to the Brandon Police Service and the Annual Report provides information on that front, especially as it relates to relationships with our Indigenous Peoples. We have embraced the importance of “Truth and Reconciliation” and the need to take steps to move forward together.

The report also examines the ever-increasing demands upon our services by presenting a breakdown of our Crime Statistics and Calls for Service. Information on our financial picture also makes up a part of the document.

Police Board Chair, Mark Frison, stated, “Under the leadership of the Chief, the employees of the Brandon Police Service have made tremendous forward progress regarding modern and effective community safety practices, including the very successful Community Mobilization initiative.”

“Committed to Community Safety is more than mere words” stated Chief of Police Ian Grant. “It is the mission and the culture of our 88 sworn police officers and 38 civilian employees, as the go about their efforts each and every day. I am very proud of them and I am also very proud of the residents of this community who show us support each day and who have provided their views on how we can make things even stronger.”
