Brandon Police Service Media Release

Possession of Stolen Property, Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose:

At 4:28 a.m., Police responded to a call reporting two males checking vehicles and both males carrying baseball bats in the 1000 Block of 26th Street. Two males were located in the area and the baseball bats and miscellaneous property was also located. Investigation found that the males had been going through vehicles in the Queens Crescent, back lanes of 20th Street, Elvis Crescent and Brandon Avenue areas. Police believe that at least 30 different vehicles had been entered. Numerous items have been recovered and are being held at the Brandon Police Service. A 17-year-old male youth and an 18-year-old male both from Brandon have been arrested for Possession of Stolen Property and Possession of Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose. Both males were intoxicated and lodged at the Brandon Correctional Center to be released when sober to attend Court in July.

Arrest Warrants Executed:

At 3:12 p.m., an off duty officer observed a male known to him in a parking lot near a business in the 900 Block of Victoria Avenue. The male was known to have an outstanding warrant for his Arrest for Fail to Attend for Finger Prints. Officers attended and located the male in the 600 Block of Victoria Avenue. The 25-year-old male from Brandon was arrested and lodged at the Brandon Correctional Center to appear in Court on Tuesday.

On Monday afternoon, Police attended to a residence in the 400 Block of Frederick Street on an unrelated matter. A female was located at the residence and found to have a Warrant for her Arrest for Fail to Attend for Finger Prints. The 40-year-old female was arrested and released to attend Court in July.

At 2:06 p.m., Police conducted a traffic stop in the 100 Block of College Avenue. The female driver of the vehicle was found to have an endorsed Warrant for Fail to Attend Court. The 38-year-old female from Brandon was arrested and released to attend Court in July.

Careless Storage of Firearm, Unauthorized Possession of Firearm:

As a result of an investigation from May 11th, a 50-year-old male from Brandon was arrested for Careless Storage of a Firearm X 2 and Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm X 2. During the investigation, Police received information that firearms were in a residence in the 100 Block of 1st Street. Consent was received for Police to search the residence and two .22 calibre rifles with ammunition were found laying around the residence. The firearms and ammunition were seized and on Monday afternoon, the male suspect was located, arrested and released to attend Court in August.

Break & Enter, Breach of Undertaking:

On June 2nd, a resident from Buffalo way reported a Break and Enter to his residence and theft of his dog. At 8:50 a.m., on Monday, the complainant called Police reporting that his ex-wife was walking his dog near the Brandon University. Officers attended and the 55-year-old female admitted to Breaking into the residence and stealing the dog. The female suspect was arrested for Break & Enter and Breach of Undertaking. She was lodged at the Brandon Correctional Center to appear in Court on Tuesday.

 

Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose, Theft Under $5000:

On Monday afternoon, Police received a report that two females stole merchandise from a business in the 1000 Block of Victoria Avenue. Officers reviewed the video surveillance and recognized one of the females. At 1:50 a.m., two females were observed at 9th Street and Princess Avenue. One of the females was the suspect from the Theft complaint. A 31 year old female from Brandon was arrested for Theft Under $5000 and a 31 year old female also from Brandon was arrested for Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose as result of Police finding a can of bear spray in her possession. Both females were released to attend Court in August.

Break & Enter:

At 10:11 a.m., a homeowner in the 1200 Block of College Avenue called to report a Break & Enter to a shed on the property. Officers attended and learned that the lock to the shed had been cut and a Black & Decker Jig Saw stolen. It is believed that this offence occurred sometime over night. Police continue to investigate.
