Brandon Police Service Media Release

Domestic Assault:

On May 2, 2017, Police responded to 911 call at an apartment in the 3500 Block of Willowdale Crescent. The female was requesting assistance in removing personal items from the apartment and disclosed to Police that her common-law boyfriend assaulted her on April 26th. The female did not suffer any physical injuries because of the assault. The 38-year-old male was present in the apartment and was arrested for Domestic Assault . The male was released to attend Court in June.


Possession of Child Pornography:

In February of 2017, Police received notification from the Child Exploitation Center of Canada that an image containing child pornography was linked to an IP address in Brandon. Police investigation revealed the identity of the suspect and a search warrant was executed that recovered several electronic devices. A 36-year-old male from Brandon was arrested for Possession of Child Pornography and Accessing Child Pornography. The man was released to attend Court in June.

Sexual Assault:

On June 9th 2016, a female youth reported being sexually assaulted on several occasions over a period of several months. Police investigation revealed a male suspect in the offence. On May 2nd 2017, the 22-year-old male was arrested for Sexual Assault X 3 and Sexual Interference X 3. The male was released to attend Court in July.


Theft Under $5000:

At 11:57 a.m., an employee from a business in the 900 Block of Victoria Avenue reported apprehending a female for shoplifting $80 worth of cosmetics. A 16-year-old female from Brandon was arrested for Theft Under $5000 and released to attend Court in May.

Breach of Recognizance:

On May 2, staff from the Brandon Correctional Center contacted Police advising that on April 26th, a male inmate contacted a female while bound by a Recognizance order with a condition to have no contact or communication with the female. The 28-year-old male was arrested and will appear in Court on Wednesday.

Other Arrest:

Two individuals were detained under the Intoxicated Person Detention Act on Tuesday night.
