Brandon Police Service Media Release


Impaired Driving:

On April 30, 2017 at approximately 10:58 p.m., Police conducted a vehicle stop in the 00 Block of 6th Street. A female was operating the vehicle and displayed signs of being impaired. The female provided samples of her breath, which exceeded the legal limit. The 40-year-old female from Brandon was arrested for Impaired Driving and Drive Over 80 mg%. The female was released to attend Court on May 8th.


Domestic Assault:

On April 28, 2017 a female contacted Police reporting that she had been assaulted by her boyfriend in her residence and he has since left. The assault consisted of the male slapping the female victim. Police attempted to locate the male, which met with negative results, and a Warrant of Arrest was requested for the male. The female did not sustain physical injuries because of the assault.

On May 1, 2017 at 2:00 a.m., the female contacted Police advising someone was banging on her door. The same male was located and arrested without further incident. A 28-year-old male from Winnipeg was arrested for Domestic Assault and was lodged at the Brandon Correctional Center to appear in Court on Monday.

Domestic Assault Arrest Warrant Executed:

At 10:26 p.m., Police observed a male walking in the 200 Block of 5th Street and were aware that the male had an outstanding Warrant for his Arrest for Domestic Assault. The 51-year-old male from Brandon was arrested and lodged at the Brandon Correctional Center to appear in Court on Monday.


Breach of Undertaking:

On Sunday afternoon, Police observed a male and female walking in the 1800 Block of 18th Street North. When the male saw Police he ran but was located a short distance away. The male was found to be the subject of an Undertaking with a condition to have no contact or communication with the female he was walking with. The 24-year-old male was arrested for Breach of Undertaking and released to attend Court in June.
