Domestic Assault / Assault Peace Officer:

Police were called to the 500 block of 13th St at approx. 8:00 AM Friday morning for a female that indicated she had been assaulted.  Upon arrival it was learned that a male was approached by the female caller, who initiated an argument during which time she assaulted the male.  Officers placed the 27 year old Brandon female under arrest at the scene.  During the arrest the female became resistive and combative with the officers at one point kicking one of the officers in the head.  She was taken into custody, lodged at BCC and later released on a Promise to Appear, charged for Domestic Assault, Assault Peace Officer, Resist Arrest and Uttering Threats.  She will appear in court on May 15th, 2017.

Take Motor Vehicle Without Owner’s Consent:

At approx. 12:00 AM Police received a call of a single vehicle rollover in the 400 block of Victoria Ave East.  The investigation revealed the vehicle had been taken without the owners consent by a 16 year old rural Brandon female.  She lost control of the vehicle resulting in the rollover.  The female was released on a Promise to Appear with a court date of May 16th charged with take vehicle without owner’s consent, drive carelessly, drive without a license.

Robbery:

At approx. 12:05 AM Police were called to the area of 34th St and Victoria Ave. as a passerby had come across a male that appeared to have been beaten up.  Upon arrival it was learned the 70-year-old Brandon male had been robbed of his wallet and his vehicle. The vehicle has since been located and the victim has been taken to hospital for treatment.  The incident is still under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call the Brandon Police Service or Crime Stoppers.

Breach of Undertaking:

At approx. 8:40 PM Friday evening staff of a local group home called to advise that a 17 year old had returned the to the house intoxicated and was causing problems.  Officers attended and arrested the youth as she was on an Undertaking with a condition not to consume alcohol.  She was lodged until sober and later released for court on May 16th, 2017

Other Arrests:

  • 1 male was lodged at the Brandon Correctional Centre under the Intoxicated Persons Detention Act

  • 2 male were lodged at the Brandon Correctional Centre for Breach of the Peace
