POINTING A FIREARM / POSSESSION OF A WEAPON FOR A DANGEROUS PURPOSE 

At 6:40 PM, Police received a report from a resident in the 300 Block of 2nd Street that while out in his yard a teenage male who was at a neighboring residence pointed a gun at him.  Police investigation determined that a 16-year-old male youth was a suspect. The suspect was observed leaving the residence in a vehicle and a traffic stop was conducted with the suspect taken into Police Custody. A Search Warrant was executed at the residence and a sawed off black powder gun was recovered. The male youth was arrested for Pointing a Firearm, Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose and Carry a Concealed Weapon. The youth was released to attend Court in May.

 

ASSAULT PEACE OFFICER WITH WEAPON 

On April 3rd 2017, an inmate from the Brandon Correctional Center conducted an unprovoked attack on a staff member. The 22-year-old male suspect was carrying an asthma inhaler, which was used while being held by the suspect to assault the Correctional Officer.  The attack was captured on video surveillance and the suspect was arrested for Assault with a Weapon. The inmate is to attend Court on May 29th.

 

POSSESS WEAPON FOR A DANGEROUS PURPOSE 

On Wednesday morning, an off duty Police Officer noticed a vehicle being operated by a person known to the Officer driving slowly through back alleys in a suspicious manner. Police attended to the area and conducted a vehicle stop. The 34-year-old female driver of the vehicle was found to have a hatchet in her possession. The female was arrested for Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose and released to attend Court in June.

 

POSSESS PROPERTY OBTAINED BY CRIME

 

Police investigation into a vehicle theft from December 2016 identified a 19-year-old male as an individual who was in Possession of the stolen vehicle. The suspect is currently an inmate at the Brandon Correctional Center and on Wednesday, the male was arrested for Possession of Property Obtained by Crime. The male is to appear in Court on Thursday.

 

BREAK, ENTER and THEFT / WEAR DISGUISE WITH INTENT / POSSESS BREAK IN INSTRUMENTS

 

As a result of an ongoing investigation into a Break and Enter into a Brandon business, Police arrested a 45- year- old Brandon man on Wednesday afternoon. The Break and Enter occurred on March 29th at a business in the 600 Block of 14th Street East. The glass door was smashed and the suspect entered the business and stole merchandise from the business. The male was released to attend Court in May.

 

ENDORSED WARRANT / ASSAULT

 

At 11:00 AM, Police attended to a residence on Darrach Bay for a disturbance. A 22-year-old female was causing problems and was found to have an Endorsed Warrant for her Arrest for Fail to Attend for Fingerprints. The female was arrested and released to attend Court in May. AT 12:00 PM, Police re-attended to the same residence for another disturbance. Investigation revealed that the same female had now assaulted another person within the residence by punching them in the back of the head. The suspect fled the residence however, returned at 3:20 PM. The female was arrested for Assault and lodged at the Brandon Correctional Center to appear in Court on Thursday.  The female victim did not sustain physical injuries as result of the assault.

 

THEFT UNDER $5000

 

On Wednesday night, Police arrested a 29-year-old male from Brandon for theft under $5000 as a result of a theft of a cell phone from a business in the 700 Block of 10th Street that occurred on March 25th.  The male was released to attend Court in May.

 

OTHER ARRESTS

 

Two individuals were arrested for Outstanding Arrest Warrants.

 

Two people were arrested for Breach of Court Orders.
