On April 1, 2017 about 1:45 pm police stopped a vehicle being a 32 year old male. The plates on the vehicle had been reported stolen and the driver did not have a driver’s license. A canister of bear spray and some drug paraphernalia was located in the vehicle. A crystal substance was located on the subject. He was lodged to be remanded this morning on charges of Breach of Court Order, Breach of Probation, Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Methamphetamine, Possession of a Prohibited Weapon.



On April 1, 2017 about 3:00 pm, police received a report that a male had been confining his ex-girlfriend in his apartment for the previous three days and had assaulted her several times. She was able to escape to a friend’s house, where she called the police. During the time she was held the suspect assaulted her causing bruising and other injuries to a previously broken limb. The victim was transported to the hospital for medical treatment.

Later that evening the suspect, a 24 year old male from Brandon, was located and arrested by police. He will appear in court this morning on charges of Forcible Confinement, ACBH, Sexual Assault and Assault.



On April 2, 2017 at 5:30 am police received a report that someone had broken the window at a house in the 800 blk Frederick St. He saw the suspect leave on a bicycle. The victim said they had heard the person walking around inside prior to calling police. Nothing appears to have been stolen. Police attended to the area but did not locate the suspect.


Other Arrests

-     Portage RCMP arrested a 21 year old female on a Brandon Police warrant for Fail to Attend Court and Fingerprints,

-     A 20 year old male turned himself in as he was aware there were warrants for his arrest for Breach of Probation and Fail to Attend Prints. He was lodged to appear in court this morning,

-     A 19 year old female was arrested on an outstanding warrant for Breach of Recognizance,

-     6 individuals were arrested under the Liquor Control and Gaming Act, the Intoxicated Persons Detention Act and for Breach of Peace. They were lodged at Brandon Correctional Centre overnight.
