Community Policing

Com. Police 2016

The Community Policing Unit is to promote proactive problem solving and community police partnerships that address the causes of crime and fear as well as other community issues in the City of Brandon.

The Community Policing members may be assigned to act as a liaison between the Police Service and community partners through lectures and public speaking promoting the services of the Police Service. Seniors Summit and Pre-school visits.

The Community Policing members may perform general Police duties such as patrolling assigned areas, identifying community problems and developing solutions using accepted problem solving techniques.

The Community Policing members may provide visible Police presence through foot, bicycle and vehicle patrols.

The Community Police members will set up displays in accordance with various Awareness Weeks and conduct public appearances. Brandon Career Symposium

The Community Policing members plan, organize, co-ordinate and conduct public information programs to promote Police Service objectives in the areas of home and business security. Seniors for Seniors / Westman Immigrant Services

The Community Policing members represent the Police Service on various Committees to provide a Police resource to the committees and to provide a communication role between the various committees and the Police Service. Crime Stoppers / Safe & Warm Shelter / Youth Homelessness

The Community Policing members organize / operate different community functions such as Monster Mash, MADD Mock Crash and BPS Community Engagement National Police Day, etc.
